As part of the Fort Vancouver Public Library's Revolutionary Reads program, The Foundation WA is proud to host a unique community book club focused on the theme of Reentry in Southwest WA. This book club is designed to provide insights, foster understanding, and encourage community dialogue on the process of reentry into society after incarceration.
Featuring the Book "Free" by Lauren Kessler We begin with the powerful book "Free" by Lauren Kessler, an exploration of the challenges and triumphs faced by those reentering society. Participants will read the book at their own pace, engaging with the material and each other to deepen their understanding of the reentry experience.
Special Event Highlight: Personal Stories of Reentry The book club will culminate in a special event at the Fort Vancouver Public Library on April 25th, where we will have the unique opportunity to hear firsthand accounts of incarceration and reentry from Lester Griffin and Paul Porter. Their personal stories promise to be a powerful addition to the themes explored in "Free."
Author Visit and Panel Discussion In anticipation of our final event, we invite you to join us on April 17th for an author visit with Lauren Kessler, followed by a panel discussion. This is a rare opportunity to gain further insights into the book's themes and ask questions directly to the author and experts in the field of reentry.
